Nine little elves … sitting on a shelf
Eight jumped off … left was self
Empathy … where can they be
What’s the matter …why’d they flee
Questions … answers …never jive
Crossed tangles …never survive
Seeking yesterday …headed for tomorrow
Needing … to fill … a hollow …sorrow.

Your symptoms worsen
I’m thinking …O.K.
We’re going that way
What come …what may!
Then, I see you spitting
Your meds in the trash
I’m thinking …
I can’t yell out …or lash!
You’re not together
That …is a fact
No fretting … worrying
Will … ever… change that!
So …onward we trudge
Toward tomorrow
Some days good, some not
As I … wallow in sorrow!
