A journey in time with Alzheimer's

Wonder of wonders

a few days after her fall, the trauma surgeon presented with wanting to put a feeding tube down (to challenge Mother’s system) Now I look back and it didn’t work, then I was not happy about the idea, but you try anything at the point she was at.

Wonder of wonders … It’s in
A helper … A nuisance … no friend
No way you’d allow this
No way we’d agree
If you were alert … you’d be
Furious with … me
But … It’s only a challenge
To help you … come through
A temporary … must … try
A final … can … do!

    • I actually thought she’d come around, she’d fallen so many times. When I refused a ventilator and a permanent feeding tube, the trauma Doctor suggested trying a temporary feeding tube to challenge her body, sadly it didn’t work, so … there we were, her wishes were that she would never live on machines, the hardest decision was to follow her wishes, but we did. I’m thankful now, Mother no longer suffers from Alzheimer’s .
