I stopped by the Nursing Home to see Mother this morning. There sat Lady Blue on the edge of her bed getting an x-ray of her left wrist (broken from a fall a few weeks ago and now wears a short cast). Her face told the story. What in the world are you doing and why me? Well, afterwards, I said Hi Mom, she’s disgruntled so I put clothes in her closet I’d laundered and helped make her bed. She hates help. But, she takes more from me since living here, than she ever did at my home, so I take advantage of it! How about a shower (she’s been refusing the staff when they offer)? Nope, too cold! We’d go to a warm room with warm water and I’ll help. No, well maybe. So we gather stuff and go to the shower, (she actually used her new blue walker) and wash head to toe. After drying her hair and having her 10:00 snack (you guessed it, milk and a chocolate bar), I took her new scarves out of the dresser drawer that her sister Patricia made for her and we talked about how pretty they were. She said she’d like to thank her, so I dialed Aunt Pat and they talked. Mom smiled and laughed. A good visit … I SEE YOU MOM.
