A cherished memory … your brother said
He was eight … sick … hospital bed
You climbed high and far … to say
Brother … love you … I’m going away
Those stairs you climbed … were unsafe
Shouldn’t have been … he paused to say
You’d have been there … on a dare
Climbed those stairs … make him aware
You needed … to say good-bye
In person … the reason why
Your love shone …compassion … your way
To ease a child’s heart … that day.

Mom has a younger brother who calls to check on her. She is 8 years older than he. His reminiscing warms my heart.
