As a child, you smiled at me
And everything was fine
No matter what was going on
You smiled…you took the time
I see pictures of…your smile
Your heart was light and gay
I wish for it again
Alzheimer’s…took it away
When you’re sad and blue
It’s easier to frown
But it’s really your smile
Turned upside down
The times our hearts are heavy
Burdened with life’s woes
I’m thankful for the smiles
To warm our inner souls.
